چکیده
Acne is one of the most common skin pathologies; causes Propionibacterium acnes, an anaerobic and gram-positive microorganism that lives in hair follicles currently presents resistance to antibiotic-based treatments; this research topic has purpose evaluating antibiotic activity Cannabidiol oil against Staphylococcus aureus epidermidis level toxicity Artemia salina. For methodology, antibiograms were used by Kirby-Bauer method, where concentrations evaluated: 0,8 %; 0,6 0,4 0,3 % 0,1 Amoxicillin for positive control Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) negative control; percentage inhibition acnes two bacteria calculated: epidermidis. Once was tested, a study carried out salina determine its LD50. The obtained from Ecuadorian company as agent be evaluated, it found at concentration 0,8%, presented 91,2 98,7 93,6 epidermidis, respectively, data do not present significant difference Amoxicillin; test, LD50 4,8 obtained; taking into account commercial presentation 1,6 (500 mg/30 mL), results relatively innocuous product. Thus concluding very promising due percentages low toxicity. Keywords: CBD, antibiograms, bioassay,

Antibacterial activity of gold nanorods against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes: misinterpretations and artifacts
The antibacterial activity of gold nanorod (GNR) suspensions of different surface functionalities was investigated against standard strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes, taking into consideration two commonly "overlooked" factors: the colloidal stability of GNR suspensions upon mixing with bacterial growth media and the possible contribution of "impurities/molecules" in ...
متن کاملAntibacterial Activity of Long-Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus
New compounds are needed to treat acne and superficial infections caused by Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus due to the reduced effectiveness of agents used at present. Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) are attracting attention as potential new topical treatments for Gram-positive infections due to their antimicrobial potency and anti-inflammatory properties. Th...
متن کاملPhenazine antibiotic inspired discovery of potent bromophenazine antibacterial agents against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis.
Nearly all clinically used antibiotics have been (1) discovered from microorganisms (2) using phenotype screens to identify inhibitors of bacterial growth. The effectiveness of these antibiotics is attributed to their endogenous roles as bacterial warfare agents against competing microorganisms. Unfortunately, every class of clinically used antibiotic has been met with drug resistant bacteria. ...
متن کاملA Precision Microbiome Approach Using Sucrose for Selective Augmentation of Staphylococcus epidermidis Fermentation against Propionibacterium acnes
Acne dysbiosis happens when there is a microbial imbalance of the over-growth of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) in the acne microbiome. In our previous study, we demonstrated that Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis, a probiotic skin bacterium) can exploit glycerol fermentation to produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) which have antimicrobial activities to suppress the growth of P....
متن کاملAntibacterial mechanism of fraxetin against Staphylococcus aureus
Fraxetin is one of the main constituents of the traditional medicinal plant Fraxinus rhynchophylla. The inhibitory effect of fraxetin on various bacterial strains has been extensively reported, however, its mechanism of action on bacterial cells remains to be elucidated. In the present study, the antibacterial mechanism of fraxetin on Staphylococcus aureus was systematically investigated by exa...
